The Geb calendar, referred to in this book, begins in the year 102 P.G.E. (Post-Gigan Exodus). There are 365 ¼ days in a calendar year, with only minor “bumps” ever few thousand years. It consists of 12 months in the following order: Januarius (31 days), Febrarius (28/29 days), Martius (31 days), Aprilis (30 days), Maius (31 days), Junius (30 days), Julius (31 days), Augustus (31 days), Dionysilius (30 days), Dianus (31 days), Demeterius (30 days), Plutonius (31 days).

In special situations, Januarius and Febrarius are considered a form of “intercalary” months for purposes of government and other administrative activities, leaving Martius as the latest start date of the year. In general, these “intercalary” months are treated as normal, outside of changes in taxation and administrative (including governmental administrative) duties. This is usually to prepare for the new year while evaluating the GDP and governing effectiveness of the past years laws and performances.

For students and average citizens, these months are sometimes referred to as “end of winter spring cleaning”. Cities and businesses tend to have short 3 day vacations, or parades, to celebrate when they have finished their evaluations, but those days are usually overshadowed by other personal or environmental affairs (a random rain or snow storm, often left untouched by magical interference for the purposes of ecological balance, can easily find itself taking place during these periods).

In understanding the above, the calendar date still begins on the first of Januarius, and anything not in transition, or subject to transition, abides by this date.

While many calendars adopt the Sunday through Saturday listing, the week (professional and personal) begins on Monday. The business/government week operates on a Monday through Friday 5-day schedule.
